London Trip – The airports

If you ever go to London never buy a phone line from a company called “3” because they have the worst rules and services ever. We bought 2 phone lines that were pay as you go and also had unlimited internet access, 12 hours later after updating some iPhone apps that we were planning on using during our trip the lines stopped working. We found a 3 store 4 days later and after the people in the store didn’t know what to do we spoke to customer service from the store and after a 30 long minute phone call we found out that they had disconnected our unlimited internet phone lines for using too much internet. They reconnected our phone lines 24 hours later, the day before we were travelling. So that’s a long story that explains why we have been away so long, no internet no technology and a waste of 90 Pounds.

This is what they look like, not recommended. Just to let you know we got ours from a shop at the airport in Heathrow.

So what we will do is a few posts about our trip even though we are back home now and we shall start with our journey.

London seems to be the place that we love to visit all the time, we decided to take you along with us this year on our 8 day long journey to look out for anything and everything about pregnancy and babies from the simplest things like availability of changing rooms to the more fancier things like push chair/buggy parking.

Kuwait airport is a total thumbs down when it comes to babies, once you’re inside the gateway areas shopping at duty free and having a snack before your flight there are no services for babies, they don’t even sell baby food and other products!

On the other hand, in Frankfort’s airport, where ever you go there are signs for baby rooms everywhere! We only had 1 hour to get to our connecting flight so we had to run all the way to the gate. It was our new Babyzen Yoyo that made all this possible; having a pushchair which you can carry on with you is a blessing. It makes moving around so much easier and less painful.

Look at how small the Yoyo is! We couldn’t believe it when the box arrived.

It is perfect for travelling and is for babies starting at 6 months and above so perfect for our 11 month old Banoota.

People at Kuwait airport were looking and pointing at our Babyzen when Mama was explaining to the airline that the Babyzen is small enough onboard without the need of having the people at the airport take it and put it with the other big luggage. We did the same to the people working at Frankforts airport, they were so amazed at home small and compact the Yoyo was.

We almost missed our connecting flight because we only had a 1 hour connection time in Frankfort so we had to literally run for 40 minutes in the airport so if you’re ever connecting in Frankfort make sure you have at least 2 hours to make your connection. The only thing which Frankfort’s airport was missing are smiles, people are so serious and even when Banoota smiled at some of them they did nothing. The case was totally different in London. People were friendly, smiling and playing with Banoota and she enjoys the attention greatly.

Lufthansa airlines are excellent when it comes to babies on board, they are so helpful and the bed is bigger than the one on Kuwait and Emirates airlines. Also the toys that they gave Banoota are so soft and fun for babies. We recommend this airlines.

Make sure you’re on a big airplane because on our flight from Frankfort to London the airplane was really small and old so they didn’t have places for baby cots but then again the flight was only 1 hour 15 minutes long so there wouldn’t have been enough time but it’s nice to have the service. Since the flight was barely half full the flight attendants allowed us to have an extra seat which we let Banoota sleep in once the flight took off.

On our way back we had a longer transit time so we had a chance to freshen Banoota up and here is a look at the changing rooms in Frankfort’s airport which are all over the place and there are signs everywhere leading you to them. They were also so clean. We also love how thoughtful it is to have a wall with wall art that’s fun for the baby to watch. It reminds us of a nursery.

London’s Heathrow airport has all sorts of services for babies like baby rooms and elevators everywhere so getting around with a baby in a pushchair is fairly easy. Baba likes to call this an Indian styled picture of Banoota with a random poster at Heathrow. They also have Babyrooms located around the airport which is perfect. Though we didn’t manage to get the pictures, their rooms are as neat as the ones in Frankfort just not colorful.
